Why we sign creators exclusively
When people hear the words “exclusive contract”, they sometimes imagine a long list of restrictions and a big commission percentage disappearing from every payment. The truth is, it depends entirely on the agency. Some will lock you into strict, one-sided terms, taking far too much for the work actually being done. We don’t work that way.
Our main reason for signing creators exclusively is simple: it stops other agencies pitching you to brands without your knowledge. That’s not to say we won’t collaborate. If another agency has a contact at a brand we don’t, we’re happy to work with them so everyone benefits, but most importantly, you.
Our contracts allow you to keep doing your own outreach if you want to, though in reality most creators prefer us to take care of it. You’re signing with us to remove the hassle, after all. Creators need to create, not negotiate brand deals. Celebrities and footballers don’t manage their own sponsorships, so why should YouTubers?
We’re also lenient. If we’re not doing a good job for you, you can leave without any stress. We’d rather focus our energy on delivering results than locking people into something they no longer want.
Some brands will only consider pitches from exclusively signed creators. It’s not always fair, but their reasoning is often to avoid multiple agencies contacting them for the same person. While it can be frustrating, this exclusivity can also open doors that would otherwise remain closed. On the other hand, a small number of brands refuse to work with agencies entirely. This is an approach we think is short-sighted and unhelpful to creators.
It’s important to note that some agencies operate in ways we’ll never agree with. We will never take a percentage of your AdSense revenue, and you should never agree to that in any contract. We’ll also never ask you to pay us to sign with us. That’s the wrong way around. We bring you deals and pay you, not the other way around.
We go out of our way to get access to the brands that you want to work with. For example: Kurt Caz said he wanted to work with Tiege Hanley, so we got in touch and got the deal done. If the brand pays for promotion via creators, and your content and audience match what they’re looking for – then we’ll be able to get it done. If you’re not signed exclusively with us, it’s not up to us to do that sort of outreach for you, but if you are, then it definitely is.
Our exclusive creator roster is growing each week out of necessity. We want to push out the middlemen agencies who scrape lists of talent and blast brands with unauthorised pitches, causing confusion and damaging opportunities.
Our goal is clear: make creators more money, and make sure brands see a strong return on their investment.
