Hungry Vlogger Visits Japan’s Burger City – Dale Philip x Insta360
We’re excited to share Dale Philip’s latest journey to Sasebo, Japan’s Burger City. Known as the birthplace of the hamburger in Japan, Sasebo’s unique history includes a large US Navy base, which helped spark its love for burgers.
Dale’s trip was effortless, taking a direct express train from Fukuoka’s Hakata Station to Sasebo Station, where he stayed at the budget-friendly Washington Hotel Sasebo, perfect for solo travellers looking for clean, convenient accommodation.
His first stop was the iconic ‘Big Man’ burger shop, famous for its massive, thick bacon and juicy patties, a local favourite for over 55 years. He also sampled the incredible cream puffs from Ganseki Bakery, bursting with sweet custard and thin, delicate pastry.
Afterward, Dale tried to catch a sunset hike up a nearby mountain, discovering unexpected WWII anti-aircraft gun sites, and took a scenic cruise around Kujukushima, the “99 Islands” featured in The Last Samurai.
For a second burger fix, he visited Log Kit’s station branch for a juicy bite, and cooled down with seasonal summer treats like choco mint drinks and peach-filled cream puffs from Family Mart and Ganseki Bakery.
